Solidago

Sunny Solidago! Otherwise called Goldenrod, this charming flower is actually an herb.

Solidago, most commonly called goldenrod, is a genus of about 100 to 120 species of flowering plants in the aster family, Asteraceae. Goldenrods are perennial herb plants and grow natively in prairies and meadows.

Although they have commonly been associated with causing allergies, that is actually not the case—ragweed and pollen from other plants is often the culprit. Although it is an attractive plant for butterflies and other pollinators, it is often not grown in gardens. This is because it “spreads” like crazy and can easily take over a garden.

Often used in the Fall and Autumn months, Solidago flowers add a beautiful touch to any bouquet, regardless of the season. Its feathery texture and yellow hue add a sunny vibe to flower arrangements, and adds a touch of rustic charm.
